Welcome to Nylah Originals.

Today’s Five-Minute Family Read-Aloud is inspired by The Page That Felt Small.

This is a little story moment about uncertainty—and discovering that we do not have to figure everything out all at once.

Beneath the Stillbright Tree, Nylah found a little page that felt small and unsure. Nylah understood.

“Sometimes I don’t know what comes next either,” she said. “Maybe we don’t have to know yet.”

The little page had something important it wanted the world to hear: “I am here.”

Now, let’s wonder together. Can you remember a time when you did not know what would happen next? What helped you feel safe?

For today’s activity, find a small sheet of paper. Write, trace, draw, or decorate the words: “I am here.” You can add a handprint, a sticker, a heart, your favorite color, or a picture of yourself. When you are finished, choose a special place to display your page.

Then, say these words with me: “I am here. I am seen. My story matters.”

Thank you for sharing this little moment with Nylah Originals. Rooted in belonging. Growing brave stories.

Our Guiding Promise: The Gregory Standards

A legacy of care

In loving memory of

Gregory James Matthews Sr.

The Gregory Standards reflect the values that guide every story, experience, and decision at Nylah Originals™. Named in honor of Shay’s father, they are a promise to create with care, protect the dignity of childhood, and remember that belonging is never something a child must earn.

His influence reminds us that what we create should carry meaning, stand the test of time, and leave children and families feeling seen, valued, and welcomed.

01

Belonging comes first. It is never earned, awarded, or conditional.

02

Childhood is treated with care. Every experience should feel safe, hopeful, curious, and welcoming.

03

Every child’s dignity is honored. Growth never requires becoming someone else.

04

Representation is thoughtful and joyful. Children are never reduced to stereotypes, labels, or lessons.

05

Meaning outlasts noise. We choose integrity, purpose, and lasting value over trends.

The Gregory Standards are Nylah Originals’ guiding commitments. They are not an outside certification or professional regulatory standard.

A belonging reminder

You are needed here.

Every person belongs in this world—including you.

Your feelings matter. Your voice matters, whether it is loud, quiet, spoken, signed, written, drawn, or still waiting to be shared.

When feelings become too heavy to carry alone, please tell a trusted grown-up. Caregivers, keep listening, stay close, and reach for professional support when it is needed.

You are seen. You are valued. You belong. And you are needed here.

A reminder for caregivers

Your care matters, too.

You may not always know whether you are doing enough. You may wonder whether the choices you are making are the right ones.

Please remember: your love, your presence, and your willingness to keep learning matter.

You do not have to know every answer. You are allowed to pause, rest, ask for help, and begin again. Children do not need perfect caregivers. They need caregivers who keep showing up with love, honesty, and care.

You are seen, too. Your efforts matter. You are needed—and you do not have to carry everything alone.

Nylah Originals is an advocate for belonging and emotional connection. We do not provide mental-health diagnosis, counseling, or crisis services.
